Magnolia by Morning
In 1957, my grandfather moved his family to a dead end road in Silsbee, TX. The stories of cousins repeated by nephew’s years later, and the circle keeps spinning. Magnolia by Morning tells the story of life living on an acre of land that sings with echoes from the past.
Using paper, water, and light, the children of the acre stand quiet for twenty seconds. The shadow of their youth is caught on paper forever, and the character of children, before and forthcoming, develop. Each work exemplifies our humanistic similarities, while also telling the autobiographical story of a kid living down a dirt road surrounded by family and thick magnolia.
